Stefan Tovell is a main character up to the third, fourth and fifth seasons. He was a major character in Season 3, one of the deuteragonists in Season 4 and one of the two main protagonists in Season 5, he is portrayed by Araloyin Oshunremi.
Biography[]
Stefan is the youngest bro to Aaron and Jamie, Jamie serves as Stefan's legal guardian and makes sure Stefan stays out of trouble and attends school everyday and provides care for him and Aaron.
Stefan was best friends with Ats and thought of him as his brother. When push came to shove, Stefan also helps Ats when Ats' mother loses her job and gets deported to help pay the rent. Stefan and Ats' friendship falls apart when Ats gets mixed up with Summerhouse who are at war with Stefan's brother's crew at the time.
When Jamie is sent to prison after Ats sets up Stefan and Aaron, Jamie then gets himself sent to prison to save them going in prison. Stefan will then start skipping school whilst Jamie was in prison and continue the truancy even when Jamie is out and mix with Tia. Stefan will also have Jamie backing him up even if Stefan is making mistakes. Stefan will be traumatised after Sully killed Jamie in front of him. Stefan will then start a relationship with Erin who also lost her father through Sully.
Stefan will later go over to get revenge for Jamie's death but will spare Sully as he knew Sully didn't care about being alive or dead which Stefan will realise he is not worth it. Right at the end of the season Stefan could of changed his mind and shot Sully in the head in his car.
Season 3[]
Stefan is first seen having breakfast with his 2 brothers, Jamie and Aaron. While Aaron goes to university, Jamie running the ZT, a gang who sells drugs in London Fields to support Aaron and Stefan and provide for them as Jamie is their legal guardian after their parents passed away.
Stefan isn't aware that Jamie's dealing and spends mof the time with his best friend Ats. Their freindship goes to a strain when Ats is working for Jaq as one of her youngers in the Summerhouse gang, the same gang who are at war with Jamie's crew, this also puts Aaron and Stefan in danger as Ats plants a gun in their home. Jamie then surrenders himself to go to prison to save his brothers.
Season 4[]
Stefan becomes aware of Jamie's criminal work, putting a strain on the relationship with his brother. Stef also had to deal with the murder of his friend Ats, which was ordered by Jamie's best friend Kit.
While visiting Ats' memorial, he meets Tia. They start to hang out more, becoming good friends.
His relationship with Jamie is further strained when his brother reveals needs to leave the country to go to Morocco.
While Jamie is away, Stef and Tia get into trouble when they damage a social worker's car. This also forces Aaron to bail out Stef, while Aaron was in the middle of his part time job at Deliveroo. When Jamie is back in London, Jamie tells Aaron and Stefan that they will be moving to Cardiff with Kit as Jamie is making a hard decision to kill Kit or Dushane will have him and his brothers killed.
Hurt by the Cardiff move, Stefan and Tia, decide to sell a gun that they found to make some cash to an A-Roadz member Tunde. But when the gun deal goes wrong, Stef is then ringing up Jamie to save him. Jamie tells Stefan they won't be moving after all.
One night, Stef, Jamie, and Aaron are having dinner. There is a knock at the door, and they all think it’s Tia. Jamie answers the door and get shot twice in the chest. Stef runs out and sees Jamie one the floor, bleeding and Sully in front of him. Then, Sully shoots Jamie in the head. Stef and Aaron come rushing out and cradle their older brothers body.
Season 5[]
Months after Jamie’s death, Stef is now traumatized, and lives in a foster home by himself. One day while Stef is going to school, he spots Sully with his daughter Tash. Sully notices him and they both stare each other down. Stef then leaves school and goes back home.
When he arrives home, he runs into one of the staff there. They ask him what he’s doing home so early and he lies and says there’s no school. The staff member tells him that Aaron would like to speak to him, who is working up in Leeds. but Stef is disinterested and refuses to talk to Aaron.
In his room, he opens up a box and inside is a photo of him, Jamie, and Aaron. He starts to tear up as he grabs Jamie’s chain out of the box.
Later on, Stef attends a protest for Kieron, as he is being detained by Immigration Enforcement. He is called over Mandy, and she greets him. Mandy’s daughter (Dris daughter) Erin asks Stef to sit down. Stef agrees and he asks about the protest, which Erin answers
The next day, Stef is packing his stuff and getting ready to go the gym. Stef grabs Jamie’s chain again, and puts it on. While walking to the gym, he is approached by Erin. She asks him if he ever goes to school, in which Stef replies if she ever doesn’t go to school. Erin tells Stef if he doesn’t attend school, he’s gonna be dumb. Stef tells her that you don’t learn real life things in a classroom. Erin teases him and walks away. Stef smiles.
At the gym, Stef tries to lift weights, but they are too heavy for him. Si runs over and helps him and gets the weights off for him. They decrease the amount of weights and Si spots him as he lifts. After Stef is done, Si compliments him for wearing Jamie’s chain. Si then tells Stef that whoever killed Jamie, is gonna get what’s coming to them one day. Stef nods his head in agreement. Si asks if he ever seen who killed Jamie, and Stef replies no. Si tells them that everyone on the road thinks it’s Sully. Stef tells him that just like he told the police, he never saw anything. Si ends the topic, and tells Stef to come with him.
Later on in the day, Stef and Si go to the London Fields trap house. They instantly greet Stef and offers him a drink. They tease him on how much he grew up. They raise a toast to Jamie and Kit. Si then asks Stef if he wants to go to a club in honor of Jamie and Kit. Stef agrees and the fields gas him up. Si asks a woman to rap for Stef, and so she does. On his phone Stef invites Erin to the club as well.
Later on at the club, Stef and the Fields enter. They listen to the 98s “Family.” Erin walks in the club and Stef greets her with a hug. He offers her to go get a drink. After the get the drink, Erin refuses to drink it because it’s disgusting. Stef is talking to Erin, when 3 Somalian men interrupt him. They make fun of Stef and tells him to let them see his Jamie’s chain. Stef pushes them away and they forcefully grab Stef takes the chain off of him and walk away calling him names. Stef is pissed, but Erin tells him it doesn’t matter. Stef ignores her and runs to go find the Fields as he enters a room and tells them that Jamie’s chain got stolen by Malis, and they immediately go after them.
While Stef, Si, Erin, and Obi are in the car looking for them, Stef receives a call from the home. He lies and tells them he’s at Erin’s house and says he’ll be home soon. Si reassures Stef and tells him they’ll find them.
Stef looks at the window and spots them. He alerts Si and they all pull in on them. Si and the Fields hop out and start fighting the Malis, and Si pulls out a gun on the one with Jamie’s chain. Si calls Stef and Stef gets out the car. He approaches the Mali and demands his chain back. He get his back and Si warns him to never look in Stef’s direction again. As they are walking back they Stef hears them talking about him. Triggered, he grabs a bat and hits the Mali with it. On the ground, Stef then steps on his face, and walks back to the car.
In the car Si and Obi are gassing up Stef, while him and Erin are laughing. Si tells them they are all family. They then drop Stef back home.
A day later Stef is chilling with The Fields smoking a blunt, until they interrupted by Jaq and Kieron. Jaq confronts Si over the bag they lost after getting robbed by the Malis the same morning. Si and Tyrone say they’ll sort it. Jaq tells them to forget the Malis and keep shotting. As Jaq and Kieron are walking out, Tyrone tells them how are they meant to keep doing what they do when Summerhouse keep killing them off. Jaq hears him and demands him to repeat what he said. Not phased at all, Tyrone repeats it. Jaq laughs at him and Tyrone asks if Jamie is alive. This angers Jaq and she pushes Tyrone onto the couch. Jaq tells everyone that no one know who killed Jamie, and would they do it. Tayo asks her who killed kit then, and Jaq looks at Stef, and reveals the one who killed Kit was Jamie. The Fields are in disbelief, and Stef stares at Jaq intensely. Jaq and Kieron leave and Tyrone says that Jamie and Kit were like brothers and it wouldn’t make sense for Jamie to kill him.
Stef is seen on the balcony, looking up at the sky, when Si walks out too. Stef tells him he has something to tell him and tells him he saw who killed Jamie that night. Si asks if it was Sully and Stef nods.
Next day, Stef goes to sit at the bench to talk to Jamie. He tells him that he is coming to check on him and tells him that it’s time for him to lose his virginity to Erin. He leaves to Erin’s house.
At Si’s house, He tells Si how it went with Erin. Si gives him a shot, and he takes it. Si tells him he has a gift for Stef, and brings out a gun. He reveals that Jamie give it to him. He teaches Stef how to reload the gun. and puts bullets in for him. Stef aims it at the wall. Si asks him if he’s ready to kill, And stef says yes.
Next day, Stef is with the Fields having fun and laughing. There is banging at the door. Obi goes to see who it is and tells Si it’s Sully. Sully looks at Stef and Stef turns angry. Si opens the door and walks in Sully, Kieron, and Junior. Sully accuses Si of taking his drugs that he took from Jonny. Si denies it and Sully accuses him of lying. He punches Si in the face twice and throws him the ground. He takes his gun and slowly shoves it in Si’s mouth. Choking, Si screams and denies it. Sully takes the gun on out and Si starts vomiting blood out on the floor. Sully, Kieron, and Junior leave and Stef looks at Si on the floor throwing up, shocked.
Later at Erin’s house, She is rebraiding his hair. He tells her what went down this morning. Then he tells her what happened on the night Jamie got murdered. Erin then tells him about the night Dris got murdered. Stef says that Sully doesn’t get to live after killing both of their care givers.
At home, Stef walks in his room and plays music. He blocks his door and reaches for the gun Si gave him. He then takes off his shirt and practices aiming the gun. He angrily yells in the mirror and aims the gun at it. He practices confronting Sully and breaks the mirror.
At night, Stef is looking at an article on his phone about the Summerhouse riot that is currently happening. He is being spam texted by Erin, which he ignores.
The next day Stef goes back to the bench. He speaks to Jamie and tells him that he’s about to confront Sully. He tells Jamie he misses all the noise and his old life. He asks him to tell his parents he loves them and he loves Jamie too.
Stef spots Sully in a park and follows him. Eventually, Sully turns around and sees Stef. Stef pulls his gun out on him, and asks how does it feel. Sully tells him that what he had to see that night was messed up, but he had to kill Jamie. He also says he understands that Stef has to kill him for that, and he accepts it. Stef asks him again, how does it feel. Sully tells him that feeling left him a long time ago. Stef tears up and decides to let him go. He tells Sully he’s not worth it. He puts the gun away and walks away from him.
