Press Gang is the 6th episode of the third season and the 14th overall episode of Top Boy.

Synopsis[]

After the Zero Tolerance gang asserts their power. Dushane's crew attempts to hire young recruits. When Sully becomes a target, the group prepares for war.

Plot[]

The ZT crew make their way down on a motorbike to Summerhouse. The Summerhouse crew are dealing drugs. Whilst the ZT come down on the motorbike putting acid in Rowmando's face and stabbing Romy.

Dushane and Sully are sat in the car, they were talking about what happened to their crew after they got fatally wounded. Haze makes his way to the pick up. Haze tells Dushane that he is going to drop Dushane 20 kilos and reminds Dushane about promising Sugar that he will sell drugs all over London as he is in a middle of a drug war. Dushane picks up his shipment and goes back to his car with Sully. Sully reminds Dushane that Jamie needs to be dealt with ASAP in order to save his cousin Donovan from the Jamaican gangsters.

Jaq is at her training boxing session after she finishes her session she gets a voice message from Maude. Ash she leaves the boxing club. She meets up with Maude. Whilst she is telling Maude about what happened in Summerhouse, Maude recommends that she can get some people she knows involved. Jaq declines as she doesn't want Maude involved because she cares a lot about her. Jaq reminds Maude that she thinks of her while working. Jaq then leaves to go to her drug dealing job.

Dushane and Sully walk through the Summerhouse market to meet up with Dris. Dushane tells Dris that 20 kilos have to be sold by the end of the month. Dris tells him that they are not gonna move 20 kilos by the end of the month because of Jamie controlling the other gangs with his supplies. Jaq walks over, she tells Dushane, Sully and Dris that Romy is in hospital and able to come out of hospital in a few days. Jaq then tells the crew that half the youngers are scared to come out because the acid incident. Dris and Jaq start arguing and Dushane tells them both to drop their attitude and find more youngers. Dushane tells Jaq to get Kieron and recruit more youngers. Sully tells Dushane that he has to go because he has Jason's funeral to attend to and makes his way. Dushane and Dris go off to get some food.

Dushane and Dris are talking about Erin, he reminds him that he needs to be there for her. Dris asks Dushane what he knows about that as he has no kids and tells him he raised Erin all by himself for years due to his girlfriend and Erin's mother Mandy being in prison. Dushane tells Dris that things have changed and about the Jamie situation. Dris asks Dushane thats its nothing that they haven't been through before, due to the Kamale issue. Dushane tells Dris that he has been slipping along with the seizures, the medication and snatching up Lizzie like an amateur. Dushane tells Dris that he is demoting him and promoting Jaq to take 3rd in command of the crew. Dushane gives Dris money but he pushes it off.

Jamie is speaking with the whole ZT crew about Dushane when he met him last night. Jamie tells the crew that Dushane is finished and tells him that Dushane knows the ZT crew is for real. Leyton however disagrees as he thinks Dushane wouldn't care about what happened to the youngers on the street. Leyton advises Jamie that he should have killed Dushane that night and also go and kill Sully. Jamie responds and says its not a good idea and only go for the youngers. Jamie says if Dushane and Sully don't like how they respond then he will give the green light on killing them like how they did with Cam and the Turks but not unless they hear from Jamie first.

Jamie drives over to Lizzie. Lizzie jumps in the car and has ago at Jamie about the acid attacks. Jamie then tells Lizzie there are 2 choices either kill Dushane and Sully with the guard or slow them down like they did with the youngers. Jamie then also reminds her of Dris. Jamie touches Lizzie but encounters and reminds him it was just a one off. Lizzie then talsk family with Jamie. Jamie tells Lizzie the problem with Summerhouse is under control.

Jaq and Kieron are walking through London to try and recruit new youngers. However they all walk off and decline the offer. Dris is sat in the park drinking and smoking weed. Whilst Jaq and Kieron failed their recruitment for new youngers they start arguing.

Lauryn and Shelley are having a chat about Tish. Lauryn says that she is to pay her to look after Tish. Shelley reveals her feelings for Dushane. Jaq walks home. Lauryn asks Jaq to set her up with Sully. Jaq tells her that he won't be interested in her. Lauryn also teases her about her girlfriend. When Shelley asks Jaq what her name is. Jaq responds "Maude"! with the name Lauryn makes fun of Jaq for having a girlfriend with that name.

Ats walks home. Him and his mum Amma start baking cakes together.

Modie is on the phone to his cousin Leyton. Leyton is telling Modie how Jamie is saying to not kill Dushane or Sully and just take out the youngers. Modie tells Leyton he don't give a fuck what Jamie says and Jermaine also agrees. Modie tells Leyton to kill Sully. Leyton is sat in the car with Jermaine who is Sully's estranged cousin. They drive down to take out Sully.

Sully goes to the photoshop and asks to get a photo printed out for Jason.

Whilst Ats enjoys his time with his mother. Amma tells Ats that they have to leave due not able to afford the rent. Ats tells his mother he doesn't want to leave and then hugs his mother.

Ats is sat in the park watching 2 kids play football.

Dushane is at the hospital. He is on the phone to Donovan, he tells Donovan to go their Auntie Bernedette's, he tells him that it might get heavy and tells him to try not to be seen. Dushane hangs up the phone to see his mother, notices his brother is also there. Dushane and Chris go off for a private conversation. They are arguing. Dushane asks him about if he told anyone about him asking for 10 grand. Chris denies it as he thinks there is no one to tell. Shelley comes in and tells Pat that the hospital want her in for one more night. Pat is upset about it as she wants to go home. Pat discovers that these two like eachother and tells Dushane to treat Shelley right.

Dushane and Shelley leave the hospital. She tells him that Pat told her she never met a single girlfriend of Dushane's. Dushane tells her he hasn't had many girlfriends. Shelley tells Dushane about Tish's dad and how he left them both when she was 1 years old. He tells her a bit about his father. Dushane reminds Shelley that Tish's father is lucky to have a daughter like Tish and its his loss.

Ats and Stefan are walking over to find a way to make money to save his mother. Ats finds a dealer standing out. Stefan tells him not to do it as his mother would go nuts. Ats encounters and walks up to Kieron and tells him that he wants to sell drugs for him. Kieron declines and tells him to fuck off. However Jaq spots Ats and tells him to come over. Jaq makes an interest to recruit Ats and questions about Stefan. Jaq discovers that Stefan is the younger brother of the rival leader Jamie. Jaq recruits Ats knowing that he is best friends with Jamie's younger brother. Jaq walks past Stefan saying "wag gwan Stef".

Sully is at Jason's funeral paying his respect, he was the only one who attended the funeral, Sully walks to Jason's coffin and puts his photo on top of it and spends more time near his coffin. Sully walks off and tells the woman to do her thing. As Sully walks out of the cremation church Leyton and Jermaine are waiting at the location as they plan to ambush him. Sully goes back to his car. Leyton is shooting at him and then Jermaine crashes in to Sully. Leyton is still shooting. Sully runs out of his car, Leyton is still shooting at Sully but still fails. Leyton gets back in the car. Jermaine gets furious at Leyton for failing to kill his enstrange cousin.

Dushane is outside Dris' flat. Dris walks up to a some guy trying to recruit him, he declines it. Jaq walks up to Dushane that she recruited Ats. Dushane didn't care even though that's not why she wanted to tell him and tell him that she recruited him knowing he was Jamie's brother's best friend.

Ats and Kieron are eating fried chicken. Stefan is stood against the wall. Jaq and Ats tell him to come over but he walks away as he knew Ats was mixing with the wrong people. Kieron referred Stefan as a "dumb yout". Jaq gives Ats a new phone. She tells Ats that he has to step up now and Ats makes it clear to Jaq that she can rely on him.

Stefan is at home doing his homework. Jamie is sat with him. Jamie asks Stefan what's wrong. Jamie then gets a phone call. Jamie walks off and he tells Aaron to help him with his homework.

Jamie walks to his crew. He confronts Leyton about going after Sully. Leyton and Jamie start arguing. Leyton tells him Modie told him to go after Sully. Jamie told Leyton he don't care what Modie says as he wasn't going out anytime soon. The two start fighting. Jamie tells Leyton he should do what he says. He warns his crew to watch their backs as Sully and Dushane will be lurking.

Sully walks over to Dushane and tells him that Leyton tried to kill at Jason's funeral. Sully tells Dushane that Jamie has to go. Dushane tells Sully to hang back for a while. Sully is still frastrated and wants to go to war but Dushane doesn't want the war and make more money to pay Sugar and save Donovan. Sully walks off. Sully walks to Jaq and asks him to come somewhere with him. Dushane rings up Jamaal to come and meet up with him. Jaq drives Sully to go to see Ruben for a rental. Dushane and Dris go back into Dris'. Erin is on her laptop. Dushane tells her to go in another room. Sully and Jaq pick up the rental car what they are borrowing from Ruben and make their way back to Dris'. Ricky, Gerry and Jamaal come round. Dushane talks to the new guys about how to come at Jamie. They recommend about firepower. Sully and Jaq come back with the guns. Whilst the crew are testing out the guns Dushane pops outside and gets a video call from Donovan. When Dushane answers it happens to be an enforcer for Sugar. He points a gun in Donovan's head and shoots him in the head. Dushane starts crying that his cousin was shot dead. Haze then sends a text message to Dushane saying "Don't try hidin a man from Sugar in his own yard."
