Kamale Robert Lewis was the leader of the Hackney-based London Fields gang. In March of 2011, after robbing the Summerhouse gang of their product multiple times, Kamale was kidnapped by the gang and executed. By September of 2012, leadership of the gang was transferred to Ninja and Trevor.
Biography[]
Sometime before March 2011, Kamale started or began leading the London Fields gang which heavily rivals the Summerhouse gang, mostly led by Dushane Hill and Gerard Sullivan. He had an aunt only known as Mrs. Campbell (likely on his mother's side considering the different surname) and a cousin named Shaun Campbell, who wasn't involved in any criminal activities. Kamale had a girlfriend named Kayla Thomas, who he most likely met prior to the start of the series.
Top Boy: Series 1[]
Kamale and his crew head off to the Summerhouse Estate and rob Tareek and Chantelle, members of the Summerhouse gang, of drugs supplied by Bobby Raikes. Dushane, Sully, and Dris Wright were at a market and could not arrive in time to prevent the robbery. A few days later, Kamale's crew is tipped off about a stash house belonging to the Summerhouse gang and rob the place too. Gem Mustapha, a young kid new to the gang, is accused of being the mole, despite having no affiliation with Kamale.[1]
Dushane and Sully plan to kidnap Shaun for ransom, but the attempt is botched when Sully knocks him out with a hammer and accidentally kills him.[2] Dushane and Sully attempt to ambush Kamale at his cousin's funeral, but Kamale skips to stay with his girlfriend Kayla. Michael, another young kid in the Summerhouse crew, is paid to visit the house and phone the group when he spots Kamale. Dushane, Sully, and Dris burst into the home. Dris slashes Kamale's henchman Dwight with a cleaver, while Dushane and Sully run in and kidnap Kamale who is having sex with Kayla. The trio put him in the back of the van. Dris beats up Kamale in order to get answers. Their journey continues and they take him to a quiet place.
Dris kills Kamale.
Kamale is put in an open grave and buried alive when he refuses to reveal the location of their stolen drugs. Kamale complies and Dris shoots him. Dris claims his kill and cleans up as Dushane and Sully head off to retrieve the stolen drugs. Dushane and Sully visit the location to and find Lee Greene there, Raikes' second-in-command. The two realize he is the gang's mole and execute him on the spot.[3]
Top Boy: Series 2[]
A year later in September 2012, Kamale's body is discovered by police. Dris, Sully and Dushane are arrested but are released on police bail during the investigation.[4] Michael and Kayla are also brought in for questioning. Kayla refuses to cooperate even under the threat of losing her son. The police threaten Michael with sending his mother to prison considering her children skip school. Michael makes a deal and gives the police information about Dushane, Sully and Dris going to Kamale's house the night of his murder, but couldn't give the murder as Michael escaped before anything had happened.[5]
